The Original Tea Chat
We hope to foster the informal “tea talk” that has been so much a part of South Asia—the connection people make spontaneously, with no expectations of any return favor. How a neighbor’s tea-table becomes the setting for discussions, chats, exchange of ideas, even friendships. Men and women participate. The talks are cordial and casual at the same time. Tea is part of the scenario, or coffee as the case may be. Often women and men separate into two groups, may be because of their different interests and styles. People get to know and appreciate each other this way. They become a community.
